She received degrees from Cornell University and the San Francisco Conservatory, where she studied with Timothy Day. More recently, she has pursued additional studies with Keith Underwood, Julie McKenzie, and Liisa Ruoho of Finland. Stacey plays principal flute with San Francisco Opera's Merola Program productions, and second flute with the Santa Rosa Symphony and the Midsummer Mozart Festival. She plays chamber music - emphasizing contemporary works - with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, the Worn Chamber Ensemble, and Ensemble Parallèle, with whom she has recorded works of Lou Harrison and Dusan Bogdanovich. She has performed on traverso with Cordelia, a baroque ensemble specializing in the music of J.S. Bach, and with the Madison Bach Musicians. From 1995 to 1999 Stacey was principal flutist of the Napa Valley Symphony, and spent two seasons as piccoloist with the Sarasota Opera in Florida. Her freelance work has included performances with the San Francisco Symphony, Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, and many Bay Area ensembles. Stacey is a practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method® of movement education, having completed the Semiophysics Feldenkrais training with Dennis Leri in July of 2005. She applies principles of the Feldenkrais Method in both performance and teaching, and has taught Feldenkrais to flutists for two summers at Summerflute, a somatic workshop for flutists in Northern California.
